Scuba Diving in the Canary Islands with www.godiving.org

A good variety of both shore and boat diving is available in the Canaries. The best diving in the Canary Islands is considered to be in Tenerife, El Hiro and Lanzarote but Gran Canaria and Fuertaventura also offer great opportunities.

The Canary Islands offer diving over volcanic sea beds with the amazing rock formations and caves along with Angel Sharks, rays and a wide variety of other fish. Diving can quickly get deep, but there is no need to go beyond 30m to see the best of the sea life.

Drop offs, drift diving, deep and shallow diving, wrecks and night diving are all in abundance in the Canaries.

Although very close together, the islands still offer differing diving experiences.

From the frequent hotel pool dives, to sea try dives, through all levels of courses to advanced diving, there is plenty of choice for diving in the Canary Islands.

Fuertaventura - The windy isle, not the one immediately suited to scuba diving. But take a dive or two early morning before the wind picks up and you can be back with the family for the rest of the day by the pool. A real bonus on a family holiday whilst trying to cram in some scuba diving.
Gran Canaria - Great wrecks, fabulous marine life at El Cabrón and Pasito Blanco, sheltered shores dives, night dives, boat dives and snorkeling. Whether you want to try diving for the first time or want to extend yourself on an adventure dive Gran Canaria should have something for you.
Lanzarote - Plenty of wrecks, large fish and the unusual Mala for a different diving experience. Most of the diving takes place around the resort of Puerto Del Carman but Mala further north and Playa Blanca further south provide a suitable alternative.
Tenerife - The well known and used ray feeding areas provide interesting dives, sometimes accompanied by viewings of dolphins nearby. Along with angel sharks, a few wrecks and drop offs in clear water, there is a lot to see here.
