Scuba Diving in Gran Canaria with www.godiving.org

5mm wet suits can be used throughout the year, but these may feel a little cold in the winter. Shorties suits can be used in the summer.

Gran Canaria has a fantastic selection of scuba diving and snorkelling sites to delight divers of all levels and abilities. From sheltered bays and coves suitable for try dives and training to deeper wrecks where more experienced divers can explore.

The best diving area is the Arinaga Marine Reserve on the east coast, known better as 'El Cabrón', where most of the dive schools can be found in action! The underwater marine life includes huge shoals of damselfish, sardines, bream, baracuda, wrasse and parrotfish. The area also benefits from the stunning underwater scenery with natural arches, caves, tunnels, swim-throughs and cliffs.

Around the rest of the island are plenty more dive sites, with all coasts suitable for diving. Plenty of shore dives abound, with boat and night diving also possible along with all of the usual Canarian aquatic life.
